The architecture is typical of Kerala and the traditional hospitality overwhelming as you step into the gracious and well-appointed reception lounge. Gurgling canals connected by arched bridges criss-cross the well-landscaped chattels shaded by coconut palms. There are 28 independent/heritage cottages and each of them is on an island of its own. These aesthetically laid out cottages have exteriors that blend with the surroundings and plush air-conditioned interiors complete with wooden ceilings, tiled flooring and cane furniture. The modern attached bathrooms with elegant fittings are in distinctive Kerala style with enclosed courtyards open to the sky. A gourmet restaurant offers traditional Kerala fare including a variety of delectable cuisines from around the world that would tickle the taste buds of the most discerning gastronome.
There is an exquisite antique shop here that is a treasure trove of ethnic arts and crafts. The charming swimming pool uniquely positioned in the middle of a natural pond on the lakefront offers a splendid view of the backwaters and palm fringed horizon. The effect is magical especially at twilight and at dawn. The backwaters offer endless opportunity for fishing; aquatic sports and cruises. The unspoilt beach immediately beyond the backwaters is an added attraction, unique to this exotic setting. Sightseeing trips to historic/scenic places and staging of traditional performing arts are also available on request. About Kollam
The charming old port city of Quilon ( Kollam ) on the banks of the picturesque Ashtamudi lake is now known more at the centres of cashew industry. Traces of a once prosperous trade with China are still seen in the form of Chinese fishing nets, huge Chinese water pots, blue and white porcelain and sampan- like boats.
Kollam is an inviting gateway to Kerala's backwaters. For an interesting backwater experience, take the regular ferry to Allepey, a rigorous ride lasting more than 8 hours. As the old ferry putters from one village on the waterfront to another, you are treated to a full range of lives and activities and some of the most beautiful scenery.
