Tulip Star Hotels Limited (the “Company”) was incorporated on 19th September 1987 as Cox And Kings Finance Limited to carry on the business of Leasing and Hire Purchase Company as its main object and the Certificate of Commencement of Business was  issued on 27th January 1988 by Registrar of Companies, NCT of Delhi & Haryana.
The Company was promoted by Cox & Kings Limited (CKL). The Company remained the wholly owned subsidiary of CKL till 1994.

The Company decided to venture into the business of Full Fledge Money Changers (FFMC) and hence 4th October 1994, the name of the Company was changed to Cox And Kings Travel And Finance Limited..

In 1995, the Company came out with Initial Public Offering of 9,10,000 Equity Shares of Rs. 10 each at a premium of Rs.100 and was listed in Bombay Stock Exchange and because of the fact that the Company its registered office in New Delhi it was listed in Delhi Stock Exchange as well. Since the advent of change in the listing guidelines, the Company delisted itself from Delhi Stock Exchange and currently the shares are listed only on Bombay stock Exchange.

In order that the Company ventures into the business in hospitality sector by Owning and Managing hotel, the name was changed to Tulip Star Hotels Limited on 11th September 2000.

The Company then floated a SPV known as Tulip Hospitality Services Private Limited (presently known as V Hotels Limited) to acquire Centaur Hotel Juhu Beach under the Central Government’s Divestment Program. Currently, the Company holds 50% of the paid up capital of V Hotels Limited.

In order to focus its resources and efforts on the business of Hotel Management and Ownership, Company divested its Business of Money Changing to CKL in September 2002 for a total consideration of Rs. 3.50 Crores , which was to the tune of Rs. 2.30 Crores paid in cash and the balance by way 60,000 fully paid equity shares of Rs. 10 each at a premium of Rs. 190 .

In order to part finance the operation of V Hotels Ltd. the Company offered 10,00,000 Equity Shares of Rs. 10 each at a premium of Rs. 20 per share on Preferential basis, which was allotted in January 2005..
